Black Ice - Faszination Schwarzeis - Bilder und Panoramas

Black Ice is clear ice, free of snow and intermediate layers. It appears as black, because the reflected light has been completley absorbed by the water being under it. Cracks witness from the growth of the ice. Growth means that developed tensions are released resulting audibly in "singing ice" (release of many small tensions) to violent, dull and musty "bangs" (release of single large tensions). Apart from all the fantastic occurences it is the release of tensions that contribute to a good part for this fascination.
Clear smooth Black Ice is stronger than milky ice.

Caution: The load-carrying capacity of ice for one individual is reached at a thickness of 5-6cm. At all times take along adequate rescue and life saving equipment, look for sign posts, obey and respect the information provided. Survivability in ice water is limited to a maximum 10-15 minutes.

Schwarzeis ist das klare Eis ohne Schnee und Zwischenschichten. Es erscheint Schwarz, weil das reflektierte Licht vom darunter liegenden Wasser fast vollständig absorbiert worden ist. Risse zeugen vom Wachstum des Eises. Dabei bedeutet Wachstum, dass aufgebaute Spannungen abgebaut werden und äussert sich hörbar im "Singen", (Abbau vieler kleiner Spannungen) bis zu heftigem, dumpfen "Knallen" (Abbau von einzelnen grossen Spannungen). Nebst all den fantastischen Erscheinungen trägt der Spannungsabbau wesentlich zur besonderen Faszination bei.
Klares glattes Schwarzeis ist stärker als milchiges Eis.
Die Aufnahmen entstanden auf dem Silser See im Engadin im Januar 2003 und 2007.

Vorsicht: Die Trägfähigkeit für Einzelpersonen ist bei einer Dicke von 5-6cm erreicht. In jedem Fall sind Abschrankungen und Hinweistafeln zu respektieren und immer soll geeignete Rettungsausrüstung mitgeführt werden. Die Überlebensfähigkeit im Eiswasser ist auf ein Maximum von 10-15 Minuten beschränkt.
